The programme is behavioural modelling based and revolves around the five general principles of management, which are of course generic to management and can therefore be utilised extremely effectively by virtually any discipline :-
MLS 1 is the introduction to the MLS suite of programmes and covers the five general principles of management which are utilised through both MLS Modules and should therefore be considered as a starting point for the on-going development of management. However, this particular module, has five sub modules, facilitated via means of participant workbook relevant exercises, mini work groups, followed by a series of highly structured and facilitated skill practices, which are obviously designed around the specific needs of the delegates thereby ensuring that each skill practice is meaningful and relevant to each individual within his/her particular discipline. This process provides the delegate with the opportunity of becoming familiar, comfortable and competent with the newly acquired skills.
The specific areas covered are :-
The delegate will be able to correctly identify the difference between average and deficient performance of subordinates and improve same, by reducing defensiveness; effectively motivate the subordinate to improve the performance area concerned; assist the subordinate in arriving at the best strategy that will achieve appropriate work objectives; assist the subordinate to implement the strategy, whilst keeping the focus on the subordinate and to aid his/her growth and development, conduct an effective pre and post work briefing discussion and review with the subordinate, which will gradually build up and reinforce his/her confidence and proficiency in on-the-job application and develop his/her ability to self critique work in the managers absence.
As the skills taught in the programme are generic to management, managers from virtually any discipline will benefit from it. Also any individuals that have been identified for further promotion should attend.
Should it be required that the programme be functional discipline specific it is flexible enough to be tailored to any particular functional area within an organisation.
As each and every discipline within the organization is interrelated and interdependent on each other. It is therefore recommended that diverse disciplines, such as marketing, admin, sales, operations, distribution, warehouse supervisory / management, even production and admin be exposed to the programme.
